Angela and Jim

31 Jul

Amidst a heat wave on the East Coast, this wedding season has been a whirlwind of blood, sweat and tears… minus the blood part …and it’s not over yet! Keeping cool has been a top priority this year, because, lets face it, tempers rise as the temperature does. And, lucky for me, so far everyone has kept calm and rolled with the punches. That’s what photographing a wedding is all about after all!

So now that I’ve stepped off my soap box, let’s get down to the good stuff!

This past weekend I travelled down to Cape May, New Jersey in the wee hours of the morning to catch up with a very special bride, Angela. I have never met a woman so relaxed on her wedding day! Heed my warning, brides-to-be, the BEST thing you can do on your wedding day is RELAX. Things moved smoothly throughout the day as we moved from the beach house where her and the brides maids got dressed, to the Cape May beach pavilion and finally to the Lobster House for the reception.

Here’s a few detail shots, the bridal party wore hand made flip flops, and I didn’t hear a single complaint about uncomfortable feet throughout the day!

The wedding was intimate and sweet, as the two were married by the mayor of Cape May, who provided background information on the city of Cape May and the beach itself. Unfortunately, the heat took it out of everyone, so we were unable to get many photos on the beach. I can’t complain though… I wasn’t wearing a tuxedo!

parking garage self portraits

23 Jul

I’m currently attending a portrait and event class at Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. Last Monday we were sent out around Lancaster City to complete some self portraits. I have never really enjoyed self portraits. I always found myself shooting things that represented me rather than using my likeness as a model.

Anyway, I realized how much work can go into composing a self portrait, and I actually LOVED the whole process. I guess this is what I’m going to class for… small revelations about myself as a photographer.

Enjoy!

My favorite from this particular shoot was shot on top of the Prince Street Garage moments prior to my fellow photographer and I being told that we had to leave. Security there is pretty tight… apparently…

MOMPOPS

25 Jun

Another It’s About Details magazine shoot yielded some great photos! This time, I had the chance to photograph (and eat) some delicious popsicles. These are no ordinary pops either, they are handmade, all natural, sans sugar popsicles. YOU NEED TO TRY THEM! http://mompops.net/
